Utrecht Municipality Wants to Make Illegal Occupation of Buildings Safer

The Municipality of Utrecht intends to make the illegal occupation of buildings safer. Municipal inspectors will visit the illegally occupied buildings in order to investigate the safety of the construction, as well as gas and electric installations. Health issues such as dampness and the presence will also be checked. If there are such problems the Municipality will consult with the illegal occupants on how to solve them. The Christian Democrats and the Christian Union as well as the opposition Liberal Party are proposing a law which would prohibit the illegal occupation of buildings.
