Prime Minister Asks for Forgiveness for Faulty Coalition Agreement

At a press conference, Prime Minister Mark Rutte asked for forgiveness for the heavy increase in social payments, resulting from the coalition agreement. He admitted that a mistake had been made and the issue will be corrected. Diederik Samson, the leader of Labor, the other coalition partner said that it had been his intention to reestablish confidence in the political arena. He added that this confidence had been damaged in the past two weeks. Samson also mentioned that the current savings program will lead to a savings of 16 billion Euros, but a further 30 billion will be necessary.
