Two Parties Request Debate on Dutch Criminality In Former Colony

The Left Liberals of D66 and the extreme left Socialist Party (SP) have asked for a debate on the behavior of the Dutch army against fighters for independence in Indonesia.  The two parties say that the government is blocking an investigation.  D66 parliamentarian, Sjoerd Sjoerdsma says that the violence of the Dutch army was structural, and not incidental.  Gert Oostindie, director of the Royal Institute for Knowledge of Languages, Countries and Nations (KITVL), says that he has been asking for a major investigation for the last three years.  He believes the Dutch committed tens and thousands of war crimes, and wants an investigation such crimes perpetrated by both Dutch and Indonesians.
